Brad Hall
Brad began serving in pastoral ministry in 1995, planting a church in Maui, Hawaii in 1998. After serving as senior pastor for 12 years, Brad and Christy along with their three kids moved to Australia. They arrived on the Northern Beaches of Sydney in 2010. Though Brad believed they would plant a church straight away, God had other plans. Over the next 6 years Brad worked in a few churches but mostly served as an itinerant minister, speaking at churches, retreats and conferences. During this time the Hall family immersed themselves in Australian culture and assimilated to the Sydney lifestyle. In hindsight, these were necessary years to understand and adapt to a new way of life before planting a church. In 2016 a small group of people began meeting which officially launched as One Love Church in 2017. We're excited to see God at work and blessed to serve our Northern Beaches community.

George Markey
George and his church staff from CC Kyiv discussed whether they should evacuate or not; after much prayer they all agreed they would leave. However, the immediate attack on Kyiv on February 24 disrupted their plans, and it was not safe to travel right away. The Markeys’ exit strategy was further thwarted after their car was totaled the night before the invasion. Sharon Markey explained, “Our car was in a rental pool, and we were going to take it out of the fleet and park it in front of our house. We would drive out of the city if it looked like Kyiv was going to be attacked.” Days before he himself left, George had already sent his family ahead to Ternopil, in Western Ukraine, where his brother, Jon Markey, is a missionary and pastor at Calvary Chapel Ternopil. Sharon added, “We wondered at the time if this delay was a sign from God not to leave, but we understand now that it enabled George to spend extra time with our neighbors, having deeper talks about Christ; it gave him crucial time to talk one-on-one with the lady who drove him to Ternopil, who is not a Christian

Jed Gourley
Report and photos by Pastor Jed Gourley As the world watches the Ukrainian war from a distance, the efforts of believers on the ground in and around Ukraine are being noticed and lauded—even by secular organizations. On the same day that Mercy Corps stated that the normal humanitarian aid channels in Ukraine had “broken down” and that “church groups” have been key to many people’s survival, Pastor Jed Gourley related his first-person account of the relief efforts of Calvary Chapel pastors and believers. Joining together from several different countries, they are getting much-needed aid into Ukraine’s war-torn neighborhoods. An Injection of Hope Eastern Ukraine has been pummeled brutally, and many have been in desperate need of essential medicines like insulin for days. Getting the medicine to the critical areas requires traveling into the hot spots, the dangerous war zones at the front lines where the conflict is still ongoing. Men must risk their lives to save lives. Yet these believers are impelled by the Lord to do what they have been doing for years: minister to the hurting.

The Lord set Joey apart at the young age of 10 and gave him a strong passion to lead people to Christ, to inspire others to wholeheartedly live and give the Gospel, and to make disciples who will go on to make disciples. Over the years, Joey has served as a youth pastor, evangelist, and Bible teacher in two large churches from Southern California to the east coast in New Jersey until he eventually was led to move overseas to the UK where he became the founding pastor of our church fellowship. After 10 and a half years of pioneering and establishing a Christ centered, Bible teaching church and working as a chaplain supporting teenagers through life’s challenges and pressures, Joey and his family felt led to return to his home country with missionary hearts to begin a new chapter of faith to see restoration in God’s church and to see a harvest of souls in the East Coast of New Jersey. These verses continue to be Joey’s ongoing testimony: “My heart is overflowing with a good theme; I recite my composition concerning the King; My tongue is the pen of a ready writer.” (Psalm 45:1) “O God, You have taught me from my youth; And to this day I declare Your wondrous works.” (Psalm 71:17) “To live is Christ, and to die is gain.”

Tim Warholic
Originally from Nevada, Timothy Warholic grew up familiar with the bright lights of Las Vegas. After experiencing what the city life had to offer, he recognized the emptiness of it all and surrendered his life to Jesus Christ. After coming to the Lord, Timothy became involved in his local Calvary Chapel church. It was during this time that he grew a passion for God’s Word and His people. After several semesters of Bible College through the church satellite campus, he transferred to Calvary Chapel Bible College Europe, located in Hungary, and spent two years preparing for ministry. While in Hungary, he was ordained as a pastor, and he met his wife, Grace. Together, Timothy and Grace followed the Lord’s call to Split, Croatia, where they planted a church. By the grace of God, the fellowship grew and stabilized into a small community under Timothy’s pastorship. After seven years of ministering, the Warholic family passed on the torch of church leadership to the Croatian nationals, and again followed the Lord’s call — this time to leave Croatia and return to Las Vegas.
Tommy Cota
In Tommy’s young teenage years he started drinking alcohol, using drugs and hanging out on the streets in the city of Artesia, CA. The life he was living led him into more darkness and ultimately 5 1/2 years of prison time in the California state prison system. It was during this time that his wife, Diana, began praying for him, and soon after his release in January of 2000 he surrendered his life to Jesus Christ on June 11, 2000. Tommy was so excited to live his life for the Lord that he enrolled in Calvary Chapel’s School of Ministry, and after graduating in 2004 he was brought on staff as an assistant pastor at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa. In February of 2014 Tommy took another step of faith when he began Hope Alive Church. His heart is to reach the people of Santa Ana with the message of hope that is found in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Tony Carranza
My name is Tony Carranza, and I am a church planter in Mexico. In 2016, my wife Angela and I and our son Kaleb were called to leave our life in Baja California to plant a church in Mazatlan in Sinaloa, Mexico. After five years, we have seen many families restored and reached by the power of God through Calvary Maranatha Mazatlan. Our goal is to make the name of Jesus famous in Mazatlan through church planting. To date, we have planted three churches in the Mazatlan area, and we will be planting our fourth church in July 2022. Our longing is to see families reached and restored through the divine power of the Holy Spirit. Today, our church in Mazatlan is very much in love with Jesus, and we continue to grow and reach Mazatlan through church planting. Thank you for your love and support of Calvary Maranatha and our family.
